Dr. Mancillas was raised in Overland Park and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. Growing up he was active in a variety of sports that ranged from soccer to wrestling. He later graduated from Kansas State University and again from the University of Houston.
He started his professional career with a prominent pediatric eye surgeon and provided optometric services at Children's Mercy Hospital part time. Later he worked for the city's largest HMO and eventually opened his own private practice in October 2000.
Dr.Mancillas married in 1982 and currently has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. All 4 of his children graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School and Kansas State University. One is currently able to stay home with her children, one also has an MBA from Baker University and is an HR manager for a local company and two are engineers.
Professionally, Dr. Mancillas has specialized experience in pediatrics and pediatric contact lenses, but he has an interest in all phases of eye care. Which means he enjoys patients of all ages. All patients have unique concerns, problems and solutions and it is this variety that he enjoys.
